Tracy Heneberger uses natural materials as the media to create his forms. These pieces take on “head” shapes that evoke 3-dimensional creations reminiscent of Giuseppe Arcimboldo’s sensibilities. Using materials as diverse as pomegranates, mushrooms, fish, wood and stone, Heneberger makes use of the rich metaphorical messages inherent in the materials themselves. He prefers an incremental approach to his painstakingly executed pieces. His works were included in the “Dead or Alive” exhibit at the Museum of Arts and Design. He has traveled to China numerous times, where he cast bronzes as a visiting artist.
Portraits is showing in conjunction with:
Nature Incorporated, a group show that considers how nature is used as a raw material - both exploited and used for its own characteristics and associations. Artists include: Hideaki Ariizumi, Lillian Ball, Andrea Cote, Scott McIntire, Robert Oxnam, Hope Sandrow + Ulf Skogsbergh, and Nina Yankowitz.
